History
The genesis of Trans-nzoia Youth Sports Association (TYSA) is a culmination of a long search for an organization that would bring together all grass roots sporting, cultural and other communal group activities to a district and beyond level. This desire to share sporting and cultural experiences within and without the district brought the need to register an organization that would facilitate and coordinate the various sports, cultural and educational programs.
Over the years, due to increased demand, the scope of the organization has expanded to include: Health, Environment, economic empowerment, Advocacy, Governance, Peace building
Trans-nzoia Youth Sports Association was registered in 2001 as a community based organization in Kenya. (Reg. No. TN/5179/8/2001).
| To this end, TYSA pursues the following objectives: |

Offer youth an opportunity for personal development through increased access to sports and recreation, educational and livelihood training.

Help alleviate unemployment and poverty by encouraging young people to consider entrepreneurship as a career option, improve leadership skills and problem solving experiences, to encourage the transfer of learned skills into positive civic action in the their communities.

Organize workshops and career counseling programmes that would help Kenyan's youth to determine their individual vocational needs, and guide their choice of jobs and occupations.

Initiate programmes that would enhance the community leadership and problem solving skills of the youth to heighten their sense of civic responsibility.

Advocates for sports to be prioritized by families, communities and government.

Empower families and communities to participate in sports, recreation and environmental conservation.

Strength other stakeholders by sharing our practices, experiences and skills.

Act in a coordinating and supporting role to link children and youths to sporting, educational, economic and health services.

Pioneer an approach to working with families, communities and organizations that encourage positive youth development through sports and Harness local skills, expertise and imagination.

Building Partnership relations with local; Regional and International like minded organizations to promote Sports and Recreation for Development.
